Assata Akil
Visual Artist, Writer, Poet, & Speaker
WELCOME
This is House of Assata Unbound. Built from fire. Named in power. Here, we do not ask to be seen — we stare back. A legacy stitched from ash and light, rage and grace. Where art is ritual And storytelling opens portals.

Love is the Journey
Hi
My name is Queen Assata
Assata Akil is an international poet, visual artist, speaker, and the visionary founder of House of Assata Unbound — a creative sanctuary where legacy breathes and every expression becomes a form of liberation.
Her work is rooted in ancestral memory, divine feminine energy, and a refusal to be confined by genre, geography, or tradition.
Assata is the author of four dynamic books:
Ear Candy and Ear Candy: Fetish Edition explore erotic power, sensuality, and reclamation through lyrical intimacy.
Petty Cache is a sharp, emotionally intelligent collection of micro-stories and poetic jabs — petty as poetry, elegant as armor.
IFE Unveiled is a fusion of painting, storytelling, and reflection, drawn from her original art series and now available in both English and Spanish.
Her creative universe spans mediums and borders. As a resident artist at Soho Gallery in Mérida, Mexico, Assata brings her visual and poetic work into curated physical spaces — transforming gallery walls into altars of memory and vision. She has also exhibited her work in Mexico City and taken her storytelling into live spaces, sharing her work in Amsterdam and headlining open mic stages in Mérida, Mexico.
House of Assata Unbound is not just a platform — it is a living body of work.
Whether through poetry, painting, or public speaking, Assata offers more than expression — she offers a threshold to return to yourself, unbound.
